We launched Revy as a digital wardrobe app about a year and a half ago. Shopping and outfit inspiration were always part of the plan, but wardrobe digitization had to come first. Digitizing a closet accurately and efficiently meant building hard infrastructure first, there was no shortcut around it.
The early version became our validation tool
We watched what people actually did with the app, not just what they told us they wanted. That gap between stated preference and real behavior taught us more than any survey could have.
A behavior that confirmed the direction
One behavior kept showing up that validated exactly what we'd been building toward: users would screenshot an item they were about to buy, then load that screenshot into their Revy wardrobe to build outfits with it, before they ever completed the purchase. They were trying to answer "will this actually work with what I own" before spending the money.
What that told us
The instinct was real. People didn't just want a place to store their closet, they wanted a way to test decisions against it before making them. That's exactly the direction we'd been building toward from day one, wardrobe digitization was step one, not the end goal.
Where that led
That's the blueprint for what we're building now, connecting the wardrobe to inspiration and shopping so that instinct users already had on their own becomes a built-in part of the app.
